Spur of the moment...
"Honey...don't you want to take a ride to see the shuttle?"
"Aren't you going to the gym?"
"Not if we go see the shuttle!":)
So we did...FOUR times!
(Taken through back side tinted window!)
The first time we are in traffic trying to find a place to park....there it goes behind us doing it's first flyover Dulles Airport!! Freaking Awesome!!
We listened to the radio for frequent updates and knew when it finished flying over Washington, DC several times and was heading back...
Second time better view! Picture isn't so good because I'm trying to live in the moment...and take a picture!:)
We should have realized there was going to be another flyover since the landing gear wasn't down....many minutes later...seemed like forever...
...Oh....my....gosh! Third time it was really hard to take pictures ...
....unfreaking believable! End of show...so we thought! Decided to avoid all the traffic and take the scenic way home...not realizing we'd be able to see the west side of the airport and runway...
I've just been watching this on the news - how cool are you getting to see her! I am quite envious. Beats the gym anyday of the week!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I had no idea that was happening. We don't have tv so we don't watch the news and we don't take the paper either. I am out of touch with the world! Good thing there are blogs! LOL
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Have been watching on TV. We did see a shuttle launch in Florida many years ago. Booked our holiday around a launch date and got up at 3 in the morning to get there. WELL worth it!! End of an era.
ReplyDeleteNice for you! I'll miss seeing the launches, and hearing the sonic booms on return. Kind of a new beginning, sad ending.
ReplyDeleteOh you have to miss the gym for something like that, after all the gym will be there tomorrow, Discovery wont be. I saw Concord taking off at Heathrow in early 80's up close and personal and it is something I will never forget.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a buzz that would have been.
