The Winter for the Record Books...or from H@LL!!

Rt 340 going from Virginia into West Virginia.
I'm running out of superlatives to describe this winter...how about a record breaker? In D.C. alone this winter has broken 3 records....most snow in Dec...most snow in a two day period and.....most snow of ANY winter since they started keeping records in 1898-1899....and DC didn't have as much snow as we did!!:)

We finally dug out to the side porch...the kitties strawbale house is under the porch...they were happy to see the digging so it is easier for them to get around!

Tuesday night and all day Wednesday we had another storm....adding 12" to the 34" we already had.....and 3-4 foot drifts. So once again we spent the day digging out....our driveway is over 1000ft long....shovel, shovel, shovel...clean edges with the little tractor...shovel, shovel, shovel...clean edges with the little tractor....repeat, repeat, repeat!
Don took me to work today....more fabric fondling and filling orders...fun, fun, fun...until it was time for him to pick Maria and me up...our dirt road has not been plowed. A big tow truck got stuck and blocked the road going in one direction....a 6 foot snowdrift blocked the road in the other direction. Maria's friend Beth to the rescue! Beth picked us up at the coffee shop and dropped us off 1/2 miles from home...since the road was still blocked! Luckily Don was on the other side of the blockage...and took us home...to spagetti and meatballs! Yum!

The snow has contributed to some good things. I finished my Doll Quilt Swap 8 quilts....the one of the left is for my partner and the one on the right is my practice quilt....for me!:)

This little mini quilt square flew over to Scotland for Lynz...the blue flower Liberty of London fabric is from a dress I made for Maria when she was 1 year old....sweet memories!

Also started on a new secret project. Aren't those greens lovely....will we every see green again?;o

And here is what Maria does when stranded by the snow...dye her hair pink!:)
I love it!!
