New Year, New Mini Mania Challenge #11

Hmm...what to do for the Mini Mania Challenge?

 Had some scraps.

Leftovers from this quilt. 

 Which was in this book.

Challenge 11 was to make a sampler....with nine blocks.

So I did....eight around the border and one big one in the middle.

 A bit of hand quilting with perle cotton to finish.

I love the stripe stems....and everything else about it! 

So glad I get to keep it!

In the meantime we had a Blizzard...

...a really big Blizzard with over 30+ inches of snow.

 There was loads of time to do some English paper piecing.  The Glorious Hexagon quilt pack #1!

Of course that was after we did some shoveling!!

Long time no blog!

Wow...it's been a month since my last post! Been busy, busy, busy and we are trying to stay warm!! Quilting helps!:)

You have already seen the finished Polaroids quilt...I just added a little hand quilting to it but Dance Floor is today's highlight!!

 Dance Floor is from Dana Bolyard's Imagine Quilts. It's the third one I have made from the book having already finished Ampersand and made the zip it! that you see in the actual book!:)

I love the quilting! My pal and coworker Kathleen Imagined it all and it's perfection!

 Love, love, love the backing and the binding and of course the crinkly goodness!  You can see where I hand quilted around the larger Polaroids and tied in the middle of the smaller ones. I love that little extra texture!

 Was also sucked into another round of Bitty Blocks.  The theme was Folk Art....

 ...and post cards.  Just waiting to receive from my fellow swappers then I have to put my thinking cap on as to putting them together.

 Finish Along 2015 is still going strong....finished the two tops from the bag-o-strips.  Kathleen now has the two tops for quilting.  Even have the binding all ready!

 The main reason for not quilting those two tops is saving my hands to get the pickle dish finished.  One of the four sections is done...another pin basted.  Loving the wool batting!!

 Woke up to this and 6 degrees (-14.4 C)  Supposed to be colder tomorrow...see why we are trying to keep warm? We sure feel for our friends in New England since they have been getting record snow!!

But this is what has really kept me busy...would you like to hear the story of these 40 and counting Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks? It's really cute!!:)

I had to share this Valentine's Day Story

Our girl wrote this story after making some snow people yesterday.  

She is the maroon truck in the story!

It's amazing she had any energy after three hours of snow people and shoveling.  

We had over 17 inches of snow then a couple more last night and more is coming tomorrow. 

 We need to go back out and shovel the rest of the drive or we are going no where!!

Happy Heart Day....One for Me...One for ?:)

Woke up to lovely sunshine, lovely cards from my sweeties and lovely chocolate chip pancakes!:) What more can one ask for....other than the snow to melt?

I know...I was feeling so great I made these little Valentine minis....all 11" of love, one for me and one for you!

Seems the hardest part of making anything is picking out the fabric and then laying it out....that took just as long as the actual sewing! But it was such fun...and would you believe once again I dreamed about making these?:)

Am I a Jinx? Megasnowzilla Part I

Maybe! My first day of work at fabulous Webfabrics ended with several inches of snow on the ground before closing! I stroked Moda OZ all afternoon and didn't even notice it coming down until time to leave....by the end of it we had another 6" on the ground. Above is the Moda OZ and the fantastic boat with lovely quarter yard remnants!


Yesterday...my second day of work...the snow started when I entered the shop. Luckily it didn't start sticking until the afternoon so I was able to play with fabric again! I think my favorite thing to do, other than help customers, is fill orders. I love seeing what everyone else is playing with but I sure wish I could see what they do with it! We are also cutting loads of fabric getting ready for Carly's trip down to Hampton, VA on Feb 25-28 for the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XX so if you live in the area go see Carly and tell her I sent you!:)
The above picture is the "Salad Bar"...it is filled with very yummy Fat Quarters and new collections. Below is our "Color Wall" where the last bits of collections shine! Alas my fun did not last long for by 2:30 the snow was really coming down and sticking so Don and Maria came to pick me up.

Then we woke up to this......

At least 26" of snow at 8am and it is supposed to snow the rest of the day. That plant staff is almost five feet tall, that's about two feet sticking out!

Those little mounds are my three foot tall boxwoods!

Don's little tractor....tires chained up

and loaded with rocks for traction...

kinda scared to open the garage door!



And Tuesday...my third day of work...they are calling for more snow! Is it me?;)

Snowzilla

We are having a monster of a snowstorm....going to be one for the record books....biggest December snowstorm ever...

And it is officially still Autumn!

Let it snow, let it snow...let it snow!
