I'm on a roll. Lots happening but I am finding time to get stuff done on my

Fourth quarter Finish Along 2014 list.

This quilt is extra special.  Last month one of the workers at our gym lost her mom.  I asked her if she wanted me to make a quilt out of her mom's shirts....she had already donated everything...or she thought she did!  Alas a couple of sweatshirts and a tee escaped the thrift shop bag.

Yep....cat behinds... I can work with that!

 There was a pink Angled Frames top waiting to be finished.  Maybe it was waiting for this project?  Sure made the finish easier, especially since I didn't have a lot to work with. 

 Sashed the blocks cut out of the shirts...add a little backing yardage....

 ...done, finito, fini, finished!

Kitty behinds...Bwhahahaaaa!!:)  Hopefully this will give a little comfort!

In the meantime my boss is in Houston at Quilt Festival. Here is a shot of the Webfabrics.net booth. We have been cutting and bundling like crazy to get ready for this weekend. Fantastic isn't it?:)  Sure wish I could be there but the rest of us are holding down the shop!:)

4:2 of 6 done!

Fourth Quarter finish #2.

 This little pile of bitty blocks made by all my pals at The Bitty Block Committee...

....have now become this stack of fun.

 Ready for Valentine's Day or any kind of love day on one side and...

 ...birthday party time on the other side!!

 Each flag is six inches wide so that makes the bunting a bit over 6 feet long bunt to bunt!:)

That's why I made it reversible!!!!

 Onward to 4:3.

Fourth Quarter Finish Along 2014...Already???!!!

Yes dear nephew...I will take these greasy bike gear bags...

 ...and make you a work apron. 

 Helps to have some leftover ties from an old apron!

 The girl was willing to be an apron model...too cute!:)

Fourth Quarter Hopefuls!!

It's amazing what a little encouragement will do to inspire.

Just putting it it out there really kicks that "get it done" mojo into action!

So now....I'm putting it out there....my hopeful list for the last quarter!!

 When not going to his classes at Johns Hopkins our nephew works at a bike shop.  They get a lot of gear in cool canvas bags.  Aunt d...can you make me an apron? I sure will try!:)

 Worker at the gym I "try"to frequent lost her mom last month and immediately cleaned out all her clothes.  Oh...I would have made you a quilt.  She found a couple sweatshirts and tees.  

Gonna definitely get this one done!

 Mom....my zipper is broken....ugh!

Sweet embroidery from class attended this summer at the Fat Quarterly Retreat.

I'm thinking pillow!

 Bitty Blocks from Party and Hearts themes.  First thing that came to mind was bunting.  Check out that mini bunting!!:)

All of the above are very doable....this one is going to be the biggest challenge but I'm seeing the end of the tunnel.  Forty-eight 12" blocks that needed to be appliqued....only nine more to do before assembling the top.  

I'm excited!!!!

Fifth Finish...3rd Quarter....a Slice of colors!

Remember this fan o'fabric?  Finish Along  #5! Yippee!!

  It's a Moda Splash Slice but I don't think they make them anymore. 

My boss gave it to me. Thanks Carly!! I had the print in my stash!!

Didn't want to chop the triangles so cutting strips of the print and chain stitching away was the name of the game!

 Tried to be random but as you see all the darks are on one side and lights on the other. 

So much for random.

Used straight lines for quilting but did it in quarters so it wasn't such a big deal pulling it through my machine!

Oh...and I made another dance floor.... a wee one!:)

4th Finish and some decisions

 Finally done.  Fourth finish of the third quarter Finish Along 2014.

 It's been almost four years exactly since I pieced this top for Round 7 at Old Red Barn Co. Quilt Along!  I think it is glad to be out of the closet!

My pal and co-worker Kathleen did a bang up job with the quilting!

 No way this puppy is ever leaving our house!!

We have gone through a lot of colors thinking about what to paint the house. 

It is already Nantucket Grey but needs refreshing.

 Green was my idea but the kids said we are surrounded by green in nature.  

Yellow... but the farmhouse in front of us is yellow.

From out of no where...purple. Ooooh!:)  So many different purples!  But it was finally narrowed down to the five paint samples clipped in the middle.

If we are doing purple then we are DOING purple!

I know which one is the winner!!;)

The real winner this weekend was our niece. 

Hubby, his sister, our girl and myself helped her move into a new apartment. 

One truck, one car, one load! 

We Rocked it!!

I made a gear...and quilted a waistcoat!

A vest really but it was made for someone in England so we'll call it a waistcoat!

Third finish of third quarter Finish Along 2014....Yeah!!

Mom....can you make a vest for a friend?

Can you quilt it?

Can you put a gear on it?

Can you put a pocket inside?

Can you put a Christmas tree with a star on it like I made for the tree at The Story Museum?

Why yes daughter...yes I can.

Found a gear drawing online.

Did a bit of paper piecing.

 A little basting.

Appliqued a few circles and a gear is made.

 Free pieced a tree and embroidered the star.  Found a pattern and some fabric she approved.

Stitched, appliqued....

Quilted and buttonholed.

 A quilted vest for her friend....creator of The Story Loom...a very Steampunk kinda friend!:)

The girl found the perfect pewter buttons.

It was well received thank heavens!!

ps...I promise the front is quilted with wavy vertical lines. 

No matter how I tried I could not make the quilting show up in a photo!

2nd Finish 3rd Quarter Finish Along....

Gotta be quick...the internet is working for the moment...gotta jump on it while the signal is hot!

Long story short...I made this dress for the girl two October's ago to wear to a wedding....I took a short cut and didn't put in the zipper figuring it would just slip over her head and I just couldn't wrap my head around the directions for the side zipper...even with pattern photos I just wasn't getting it.
 It would not slip over. 

Crap.....out came the scissors and cringing I cut it down the back!  Luckily I had extra fabric and some buttons but it hung forgotten (on purpose) in the closet.  Finish Along to the rescue!!

 Not wanting to deal with interfacings and linings and flanges and buttonholes I put in a zipper.  Not the right kind of zipper since it isn't invisible but....

...the girl loves it...and she can always wear a cardigan to hide it!

Done, done and done!

one + one + one= five....and a 1st finish of the 3rd quarter!

In a week the girl and I will be flying over the Atlantic to visit friends in the UK...you know who you are!:) The girl is staying with her friends and I'm bouncing about but it will be fun! Several days I'll be staying in an Oxford University room at Magdalen College where Oscar Wilde and C. S. Lewis did some creating! The other days I'll be staying with one of the girl's pals from The Story Museum...so nice of her to offer up their spare room.  Of course I need to show my gratitude.

  Angled Frames to the rescue!  Yep, I made them a quilt and it's my first finish from this list of WIPS of the 3rd quarter

 Finish Along 2014! 

 The family has two small boys so I had the best time picking out fabrics.

How about Batman surrounding London...a bit of dinosaur eggs and Star Wars to boot.

There are robots, pirates, The Hulk and Clifford the Big Red Dog, Snoopy, books, pencils, rulers and Alice cards.  Just a bunch of fun for this picnic quilt. Now I need to roll it as small as I can and mush it into my suitcase!  That is number one...

Here is number two, one of the original eight samples tops I made for Round 15 at

 Old Red Barn Quilt Along.

 And here is number three...or rather....

three, four and five!  Yep, I had originally planned to use this fabric for a couple of quilts for my in-laws puppers but thought it would be a great larger sample.  So I made the above top...then cut it up and made three littler quilts.  The third went to the the boy's girlfriend.  All three doggies love their quilts!:)

See...I'm not so bad with math!
